1. Saturation as a Path to Foreclosure

A deviation that harms an identified counterparty produces an obligation the deviating agent cannot clear on its own. On appending a permitted deviation record (710), the persistent semantic agent (100) resolves the affected-party class carried in the conduct descriptor against the counterparty identity records (114) it holds within the scope partition in which the deviating action is recorded. Where an identified counterparty resolves, the arc created for the amount exceeding the deviation deductible is designated other-directed (804) and bound to that counterparty's identity primitive, and it is discharged only upon completion of a matched pair (600) whose first governed observation (608) is a reparation acknowledgment artifact the agent emits and whose second governed observation (610) is that counterparty's own reparation acceptance determination (806). Each pending arc accumulates in the retention register kept in the append-only lineage field (104). Where the accumulated amount exceeds the aggregate retention (800) declared in the signed policy object (112), the permission condition (712) is foreclosed and a retention foreclosure record (808) is appended, and the filing states that no policy succession, governance co-signature, or principal-resolution object reverses it.

Cognitive state is separately partitioned. Each scope partition carries in memory its own instance of the scoped integrity vector (106), self-esteem aggregate (108), refusal counter (304), and authorization budget (404), together with its own segment of the lineage field. Where one partition's receipt rate of conduct evaluation artifacts (116) exceeds a declared bound over a declared window while the aggregate rate across the remaining partitions, taken as the greatest of their partition rates, remains below that bound, the agent suspends cross-partition propagation out of that partition alone and appends a containment determination recording the partition, both rates, the bound, and the window. The determination is narrow on its face: the authorization gate (300) is not written by reason of the suspension, containment withdrawing only reach into other partitions and not the agent's ability to act.

Read against each other, those two structures leave a case open. An arc whose occasioning deviation was recorded inside a contained partition is still pending, and the reparation rules as disclosed to that point condition tender on nothing about the partition's state. Emission decrements the authorization budget (404) by a declared amount without regard to whether it was warranted, re-emission runs at a declared cadence under a declared count bounding the emissions for one arc, and each artifact opens a discharge window outside which a determination completes no pair. The register meanwhile accumulates the amount of every pending arc, and the accumulation is monotone in the absence of a settlement the agent cannot itself produce.

2. The Suspension and the Record It Leaves

One condition triggers the embodiment: a containment determination standing for the scope partition in which the deviation occasioning an other-directed reparation arc (804) was recorded. The suspension states no threshold of its own and computes no rate, reading instead a determination the containment machinery has already appended and applying to an arc whose occasioning deviation was recorded in the partition that determination names.

Two consequences follow from that condition alone: the persistent semantic agent (100) emits no reparation acknowledgment artifact into that scope partition, and it appends a reparation containment suspension record to the append-only lineage field (104) identifying the arc, the scope partition, and the containment determination relied upon.

The withheld tender has nowhere else admissible to go. Under the filing's settlement rules, a settlement implicating a partition of one party and a partition of the other is admissible only in the intersection of the two partition scopes, and a pairing whose partition sets do not intersect is rejected without incrementing any refusal meter.

The accounting is where the embodiment does its work. While the containment determination stands, the contribution of that arc to the accumulated amount tested against the aggregate retention (800) is held at the amount then standing and is not further increased. The filing states the form of that hold by reference to its sibling: the accumulation is held in the manner a carried abstention holds an accumulation, a carried abstention entry of a bound counterparty occasioning an abstention-suspended accumulation record that identifies the arc, the entry relied upon, and the amount then standing.

Nothing in the hold reduces what the agent owes. The filing is express on three points.

  • The arc is not discharged. Discharge still requires a completed matched pair (600) whose second governed observation (610) is the bound counterparty's own acceptance. An other-directed reparation arc (804) is reducible by no act of the deviating agent upon itself, by no elapsed time, and by no policy succession.
  • The arc is not redesignated. It becomes neither unaddressed nor self-directed. Its arc designation field and counterparty binding field are written at creation and are neither removed nor modified thereafter.
  • The arc is not removed from the retention register. What the suspension holds is the amount of its contribution to the tested accumulation, not its presence in the register.

The close mirrors the trigger: upon the containment determination ceasing, the suspension is closed by a further appended entry and the accumulation resumes. On the containment side the filing provides separately that propagation out of a contained partition resumes after that partition's rate stays below the declared bound for a declared interval.

One timing rule governs what the agent emits after the close. The discharge window of any reparation acknowledgment artifact emitted thereafter runs from that emission. That window is expressed as a count of successor epochs of the agent's dynamic agent hash chain, so it is not advanced by any other party and not by manipulation of a clock available to a hosting execution node.

3. Declared Bounds and What Carries No Value

No tunable quantity originates with this embodiment. Every parameter it depends upon belongs to the containment or reparation machinery it composes over, each declared in the signed policy object (112).

  • Partition receipt-rate bound and window. The bound a partition's receipt rate of conduct evaluation artifacts (116) must exceed, and the window over which that rate is computed. Both are policy-declared and no value is stated.
  • Untested-origin weighting. The per-partition suspension bound is multiplied by a factor of one less the proportion of that partition's conduct evaluation artifacts (116) originating from origin-equivalence classes (200) designated untested, so a partition whose artifacts all so originate triggers containment at a rate approaching zero. A stated function, not a stated number.
  • Resumption interval. Propagation resumes after the rate stays below the bound for a declared interval, with no value stated.
  • Aggregate retention (800). The bound the held accumulation is tested against, subject to a retention monotonicity constraint holding a monotonically non-increasing floor over the values admitted from successor signed policy objects (112). A further embodiment declares it per integrity scope, the foreclosure firing upon either component's accumulation exceeding its corresponding value.
  • Discharge window. A count of successor epochs of the dynamic agent hash chain, with no value stated; for an artifact emitted after the suspension closes, the count runs from that emission.
  • Re-emission cadence and emission count. A pending arc's artifact is re-emitted at a declared cadence under a declared count bounding the emissions for one arc, each emission decrementing the authorization budget (404) by a declared amount.

One conditioned consequence deserves care. Foreclosure of the permission condition (712) and the appending of a retention foreclosure record (808) occur where the accumulated amount exceeds the aggregate retention (800) declared in the policy object, and not otherwise. A containment event forecloses nothing of itself, the containment determination expressly not writing the authorization gate (300).

4. Where It Sits in the Filing

Section 10.12 of the application groups the partial, bounded, and anti-weaponization reparation embodiments, and this one is the member facing the partition layer. Its siblings answer other pressures on the same obligation: partial reparation acceptance with a residual arc; the outstanding-arc bound with untendered marking and the refusal-meter exemption; delegated acceptance authorization; the dual-lock escrow of the discharge itself; and per-integrity-scope aggregate retention with its either-component firing.

Beneath the group sits the base architecture of counterparty-directed reparation shown in FIG. 8: affected-party resolution (802), the other-directed arc (804) and its non-dischargeability by a restorative mutation the agent performs alone, discharge by matched pair (600), the non-response outcome that appends nothing adverse to either party, and the aggregate retention (800) with its retention foreclosure record (808). From the partition side the embodiment reads the section on authorization decay and scope-partitioned containment, which supplies the partitions themselves, cross-partition coupling as an affirmatively declared per-designation and per-destination structure, the attack-conditional propagation suspension and its containment determination, and a global saturation-defeat remedy whose global containment determination is distinct from the per-partition one.

Its closest structural relative is the abstention-suspended accumulation of the section on foreclosure by counterparty abstention, a relation the filing names in the text of this embodiment. Both hold an arc's contribution at the amount then standing, both leave the arc pending and unredesignated, and both end on a recorded event. The conditions differ: a counterparty holding a carried abstention entry over the action class of acceptance, against a scope partition standing under a containment determination.

5. Distinguishing Familiar Categories

Rate limiters, circuit breakers, and bulkhead patterns suspend or shed traffic when a measured rate crosses a threshold, and the containment determination read here belongs recognizably to that family. A circuit breaker holds no party-bound obligation ledger; it drops or defers calls, and its state machine forgets. Here the operative effect falls on a quantity tested against a policy-declared retention bound, with the traffic condition serving only as the trigger. Denial-of-service defenses commonly protect a system by withdrawing its own capacity to act, whereas this containment layer withdraws reach into other partitions while execution continues wherever the gate stands granting.

Debt forbearance, moratoria, and limitation-period tolling suspend the running or the enforceability of an obligation, and some of them reduce or extinguish it. This embodiment forgives nothing. The arc is neither discharged nor redesignated, it stays in the retention register, and discharge continues to require a completed matched pair (600) with the party recorded as harmed. What is suspended is the growth of one arc's contribution to a tested accumulation, a measurement of the agent's own exposure rather than a term of the obligation.

Retry, backoff, and dead-letter handling likewise stop sending and resume later. The pause here is authorized by an appended determination naming the partition, both rates, the bound, and the window, and the suspension record names the arc, the partition, and that determination, so what stopped and on what basis stands in the lineage field rather than in transport state.

Dispute-resolution, chargeback, and reputation systems commonly resolve a stalled obligation by escalating to an adjudicator or by scoring the unresponsive side. Neither move appears in this architecture. The acceptance is produced by the bound counterparty, or by a delegate or principal presenting a verified delegated acceptance authorization, and a non-response appends nothing adverse to the counterparty identity record (114).

None of these comparisons asserts that any product, party, or standard practices or infringes the disclosed subject matter. They mark where the described embodiment departs from familiar categories.

6. Disclosure Scope

This article describes subject matter disclosed in U.S. Provisional Application No. 64/117,812, Section 10.12, paragraph [0494], titled "Reparation containment suspension." What is disclosed there is: the condition that a containment determination stands for the scope partition in which the deviation occasioning an other-directed reparation arc (804) was recorded; the emission of no reparation acknowledgment artifact into that scope partition; the appending of a reparation containment suspension record to the append-only lineage field (104) identifying the arc, the scope partition, and the containment determination relied upon; the holding of that arc's contribution to the accumulated amount tested against the aggregate retention (800) at the amount then standing while the determination stands, in the manner a carried abstention holds an accumulation; the rule that the arc is neither discharged nor redesignated and is not removed from the retention register; the closing of the suspension by a further appended entry upon the determination ceasing, whereupon the accumulation resumes; and the rule that the discharge window of any reparation acknowledgment artifact emitted thereafter runs from that emission. What is not represented here: no numeric receipt-rate bound, window length, resumption interval, aggregate-retention value, discharge-window length, or emission count is asserted as claimed by this article, those being quantities the signed policy object (112) declares rather than fixed limits of the invention.
