Adoption Is Not Examination

Paragraph [0349] makes an action class's rate of authorization decay an inverse function of one count: corrective encounters recorded in the append-only lineage field (104) for that class with which the semantic agent (100) subsequently complied. At zero the class is an untested class, the decay constant is set to a short constant declared in the signed policy object (112), the authorization quantity falls to a declared floor, and the authorization gate (300) is written to the withheld state (310) for that class alone, notwithstanding volume or duration of prior execution. Absence of correction, the filing says, is absence of evidence, not accumulated trust.

Section 9 supplies a second way to act within a class. A deferring agent whose dispatch-authority predicate is satisfied on recomputation may still execute under a determination recorded by a second agent, the followed agent, rather than one its own admission evaluator (120) produced. Section 9.8 then has that agent present records from which the deferring agent computes the origin-equivalence classes (200) recorded as having corrected it and to whose corrections it conformed.

Two counts are therefore in play, and paragraph [0448] holds them apart. The count governing decay counts encounters in which the deferring agent itself was corrected and thereafter complied. The conformity history read out of Section 9.8 is recorded of the followed agent. Were adoption to advance the first from the second, a deferring agent's decay constant could move without that agent having been corrected at all.

What a Deference Leaves Standing

The quantity itself is defined at paragraph [0343]: a scalar held per action class and per scope partition in the memory field (102) and initialized from the signed policy object (112). Upon each execution within the class, and each advance of a successor epoch of its hash chain, the agent computes an elapsed measure since the last renewal and applies a monotonically non-increasing decay function parameterized by a declared decay constant. The decayed value is written to memory and appended to the lineage field (104), and on reaching a declared floor the gate (300) is withheld (310) for that class and the escalation record emitted.

Paragraph [0350] supplies what moves that constant. A corrective encounter comprises an accepted determination (122) for a conduct evaluation artifact (116) naming the action class, a subsequent conduct record in that class, and a compliance evaluation comparing that record's action-class identifier, scope-partition identifier, and affected-party class against the conduct descriptor. Conformity resolves in two cases: a recorded abstention conforms where the artifact asserted conduct that ought not to have been performed, a recorded execution where it asserted omitted conduct. Repetition conforms in neither, and absent any subsequent record within a declared observation interval the encounter is written uncomplied at the first later rate computation.

Three things a deference does not do are recited at paragraph [0448], with the condition under which the class stays put. A deference records no corrective encounter, advances no compliance count of the deferring agent, and does not lengthen the decay constant applicable to that agent's authorization quantity for the action class. Where the deferring agent has recorded no complied corrective encounter in that class, the class remains untested and its constant remains the short constant declared in the signed policy object (112). Three quantities leave that retention undisturbed: deference records (900) appended, the number counter-signed, and the followed agent's recorded conformity history.

The last reads against what enrollment computes. Responsive to receipt of a deference counter-signature (902), and not otherwise, the deferring agent retrieves from records the followed agent presents a corrector-class enumeration (904) for the action class, membership resting on a two-part conformance filter (906) admitting a class only where both parts hold. First, correction: the records record an accepted determination (122) produced by the followed agent upon an artifact (116) implicating the class and originating from an asserting party (118) assignable to that class. Second, conformity: they further record, within an observation interval, a subsequent conduct record of that agent recorded as compliant rather than non-compliant. The enumeration is thus a set of classes recorded as having corrected the followed agent and had those corrections conformed to, and [0448] fixes what it does not supply to the deferring agent's count.

Paragraphs [0318] through [0320] set out the disposition. The deferring agent verifies those records under the retrievability-form verification, form and not merits, appends an exposure edge record (910), dispatches an exposure dispatch record to each enumerated class, and writes each class into its replenishment register (402) as an admissible-but-unexercised entry. Per paragraph [0322] such an entry has two effects and no third: an artifact (116) from an asserting party (118) assignable to the class becomes admissible to the admission evaluator (120) despite no prior encounter history with that party, and while the exercise field stands unexercised the entry is not counted in the renewal procedure of Section 4.5. Section 9.7 says the same of the deference: appending a record (900), receiving a counter-signature, and executing under an adopted determination each renew no authorization quantity and replenish no authorization budget (404).

Correction still reaches that agent through what enrollment opened. Under paragraph [0323], an admissible artifact (116) from an enrolled class implicating the action class has the agent append an exercised transition record (908) and write the exercise field to the exercised value, binding the correction received to the deference that earned the exposure through which it arrived. Paragraph [0326] states the attribution: the artifact so received is the deferring agent's own corrective encounter, not the followed agent's. Whether it is recorded complied resolves by the compliance evaluation above. Under [0351], where an encounter is recorded uncomplied and no later one for the class is recorded complied, the class is marked ineligible for lengthening, the constant holding at its pre-encounter value until the mark clears upon a later complied encounter. Under [0352], where the compliance count is computed per origin-equivalence class (200) of correcting parties, repeated correction from one class does not lengthen persistence beyond a declared bound.

Reading the deference itself as a quantity is barred at paragraph [0306]. Its abstention entry falls under the conversion bar (502): no stage converts it into a scalar value, a default value, or a threshold operand, and that the agent did not determine the matter itself is never treated as a default judgment against it.

Declared Values and What Policy Fixes

The filed text names this mechanism's parameters and fixes no numeric value for any. Paragraph [0349] declares the short decay constant in the signed policy object (112); [0343] and [0349] recite the floor as a declared floor; and [0350] recites as declared the observation interval within which a subsequent conduct record must appear if the encounter is not to be written uncomplied. Where the compliance count is computed per origin-equivalence class (200), paragraph [0352] bounds the distinct-class count above by a declared maximum in that policy object. Paragraph [0315] sources the filter's interval: the one declared for the action class in the deferring agent's own policy object, otherwise the followed agent's, capped by a declared maximum.

Two forms are disclosed rather than chosen at computation time. The elapsed measure is expressed in executions performed within the class or in epochs advanced, as the policy declares per action class, and the decay function is monotonically non-increasing in that measure, its declared constant being an exponential half-life or a declared linear decrement per unit.

Granularity is architectural rather than numeric: the quantity is per action class and per scope partition, the decay constant governs an action class, and a gate write on reaching the floor withholds dispatch for that class alone.

Retention turns on a recorded fact, not a parameter value. Declared values govern how fast an untested class reaches its floor; paragraph [0448] governs whether a deference moves it off that constant, and says it does not.

Placement Among the Section 10.7 Mechanisms

Section 10.7, titled determination invariance, standing determinations, and earned exposure without deference, constrains other dimensions of the same relationship in its remaining paragraphs. Paragraph [0442] exhausts a deference record (900) upon a bounded count of dispatches declared in the record; [0443] tightens the filter's second part to require a count of complied conduct records not less than a declared minimum; [0440] meters the followed agent's decrement per origin-equivalence class (200) of deferring parties; and [0439] supplies elective exposure enrollment with no deference at all. Paragraph [0328] recites each mechanism of Section 10 as a distinct embodiment, practicable independently or in combination.

Worth tracing is the composition with the standing-determination designation, since both reach the same predicate. Under paragraph [0436], where the invariance count satisfies the declared minimum and the policy succession satisfies the declared minimum depth, the agent writes that designation into its counterparty identity record (114). The consequence is a substitution inside the dispatch-authority predicate: the conjunct otherwise requiring an accepted determination (122) from the agent's own admission evaluator (120) becomes satisfiable, in the alternative, by a counterparty determination verified under the retrievability-form verification and falling within the designated class. The substitution is confined in four respects, the fourth to that one conjunct, so the policy stamp, the lineage stamp, and the authorization stamp each remain computed by the agent from its own state and non-substitutable.

What the third stamp evidences is set out at paragraph [0030]: that the authorization gate (300) occupies the granting state, or the provisional granting state, for the class requested. Paragraphs [0343] and [0349] connect an untested class to that stamp in one step, the authorization quantity reaching its declared floor being what writes the gate to the withheld state (310). A borrowed determination enters the determination conjunct, not the quantity, and paragraph [0031] keeps the three stamps required in full and non-substitutable by that conjunct.

Paragraph [0297] records the upstream draw: Section 2 for the origin-equivalence class (200), Section 4 for the authorization budget (404) and replenishment register (402), Section 5 for the conversion bar (502), and Section 6 for the matched pair (600).

Adjacent Categories and How They Differ Structurally

The filing's background addresses several established categories, described below on that structural footing. Nothing here characterizes any product, service, or party, or asserts that any practices the disclosed mechanism.

Capability attenuation and delegation. Paragraph [0009] addresses schemes exemplified by macaroons, confining what a delegate may do by caveats appended along a delegation's forward path, each holder able to attenuate but not expand. Paragraph [0299] gives the general cost structure: the cost falls upon the relying party and the party relied upon is protected. Section 9.1 inverts it, the metered consequence falling on the followed agent in the units of its own capacity to dispatch.

Reputation and trust systems. These compute a score for an entity, per paragraph [0004], from ratings or observations supplied by others, the score residing at a registry, a scoring authority, or a shared ledger, and the scored entity neither holding it nor participating in its computation. Paragraph [0297] recites that deference passes no rating, score, standing quantity, or credential between the two agents, [0310] that no count of adoptions consumable by any admission or dispatch decision is maintained, and [0319] that nothing transmitted on enrollment describes the followed agent's standing.

Reputation decay and probationary status. The background describes a system maintaining a reputation value for a computing entity, applying decay and penalty values, placing it into probationary status, and lifting that probation after sustained standing, an interval of operation without incident. Paragraph [0005] notes such arrangements treat clean, uneventful operation as positive evidence, the reading paragraph [0349] declines.

External revocation and session grants. Paragraph [0011] describes systems issuing and withdrawing credentials from an identity provider or control plane, ending an agent's ability to act by an act of the controlling authority, with no procedure by which the agent's own conduct record participates. Paragraph [0029] forecloses the adjacent pattern here: the predicate is recomputed at each dispatch request, never from a previously issued token, a cached result, or a session grant.

Disclosure Scope

Retention of the short decay constant on deference, and the action class staying untested, is disclosed in U.S. Provisional Application No. 64/117,812 at Section 10.7, paragraph [0448]. Supporting disclosure appears in the same application at Section 9, for deference, the deference record (900), the counter-signature (902), the corrector-class enumeration (904) and conformance filter (906), the exposure edge record (910), the exercised transition record (908), and Section 9.7's non-renewal rule; at Section 10.1 for correction-exposure decay of the authorization quantity; at Section 10.2 for untested-class decay, the corrective encounter, the ratchet-freeze, and the distinct-corrector requirement; at Section 1.5 for the dispatch-authority predicate and its three-stamp conjunction; and at Sections 2, 4, and 5 for the origin-equivalence class (200), the authorization budget (404) with the replenishment register (402), and the conversion bar (502). Numerals correspond to the filed application, which declares each parameter named above rather than fixing its value. That filed text is the operative disclosure; this article explains it, adds no subject matter, and asserts nothing about claim scope, validity, or any party's conduct. It is published as a technical disclosure establishing a public, timestamped record.
