Coordination is a structural primitive, not a platform service

Multi-party ceremonies grounded in physical proximity. Cross-domain authority handoff.

The gap

Multi-party coordination in physical-world operations — intermodal freight handoff, airspace transition, medical patient transfer, defense coalition operations — requires every participant to share a coordination infrastructure: a common platform, a shared ledger, or a central orchestrator. Each domain builds its own coordination substrate, producing bespoke integrations that cannot compose across domains.

There is no general-purpose coordination primitive grounded in physical proximity that works across any number of parties, any coordination pattern, and any authority domain.

The invention

A generalization of matched-pair to N-party coordination through role-differentiated attestation, pattern-agnostic outcome functions across thirteen-plus patterns (consensus, quorum, auction, lead-follower, custody-chain, federated, multi-authority approval, voting), Byzantine robustness against adversarial participants, partial-quorum handling for incomplete ceremonies, dynamic membership allowing party replacement during ceremonies, and cross-pattern composition enabling sequential phases and nested patterns.

Cross-domain authority handoff with taxonomy translation enables coordination across operational domains: intermodal freight (truck/rail/sea/air carriers), airspace handoff (civil/military FIR transitions), and medical patient transfer (EMS/hospital/surgical/post-op) — each with governance-credentialed lineage preserving the full coordination history.

The inventive step

Prior art coordinates N parties through centralized orchestration, shared ledgers, or bilateral agreements. N-party coordination coordinates through structural proximity-grounding and role-differentiated governance-credentialed attestation — the coordination pattern is parameterized, not hard-coded, and the same primitive scales from two-party settlement through coalition-wide multi-authority ceremonies.

The departure is that coordination is not a service or a platform — it is a structural primitive of the governed mesh, grounded in physical proximity and governed by the same chain as every other mutation.

Alone, and in composition

On its own, n-party coordination applies to any multi-stakeholder physical-world operation: freight logistics, air traffic management, emergency response, clinical care coordination, defense coalition operations, and multi-utility smart grid coordination.

In composition, n-party coordination builds on matched-pair settlement and composes with the governed marketplace to produce multi-party commercial agreements grounded in physical proximity.

AQ

Coordination is a structural primitive of the governed mesh, grounded in physical proximity and governed by the same chain as every other mutation.
